SPRING/SUMMER 2023
“THE LAST WALK TO THE RIVER”
This season, Mimine AG is bringing awareness to the lack of clean water that affects communities, primarily women and young girls, in some parts of the world.
Having to walk many kilometres to find clean water for daily needs is the reality for many women and children living in underdeveloped rural areas.
Via this collection entitled “The last walk to the river”, the brand is giving homage to these unbreakable women and raising funds to build wells in rural areas in the Benin Republic. The brand has pledged 5% of all the Spring Summer 2023 sales to the charity "Hirondelle de l’avenir" toward creating as many wells as possible. They have already built 25 wells to date, helping Beninese communities, and promoting women and girls' growth.
This collection features an exciting mix of structured pieces as well as very easy numbers, contrasted but all very true to the Mimine AG aesthetic of bringing sensuality to curvy women’s wardrobe. The use of refined textiles, such as the printed snake metallic silk chiffon, the bonded gold lured on cotton drill and the black pleated lurex ,are some of the core elements of the brand DNA. Mimine has tapped into her African heritage with the use of gold corries beads and the snake print as snakes are sacred in the Republic of Benin.
The SS23 catwalk features vases from Italian artist Ekaterina de Andreis. The models carrying vases was the representation of the load these women must carry every day to fetch water.
